The eMotimo Fz motor is light, elegant, powerful, and the perfect addition to your Spectrum ST4. The Fz mounts easily to a 15 mm rail system (yours if you have one or add the optional integrated Lplate). No new controller is required – simply plug the Fz motor in to the Spectrum’s M4 motor port and your focus is ready for live or programmed moves coordinated with your other controlled axis.

The small form factor and light motors means you can add one or two of our Fz motors to your Spectrum system without creating a monster.

      Great Design

The Fz focus iris zoom from eMotimo is a fantastic add-on to the already great Spectrum St4 motion controller. You can tell it's made of high quality materials and it's going to be durable and long lasting. The upgraded power and communication plugs for the St4 are a really good upgrade from previous plug types. Seemingly weather sealed, they screw together with the cushion of an internal gasket ring. It's also great that you can use the gear one direction or the other by varying the motors position on the rail and Lplate. This will allow for various focus ring positions depending on your lens.

I need to recreate this scenario, but I swear the electronics have the sensitivity to know when they hit soft stops on lens focus points and it'll stop the motor from moving forward. I experienced this on my Canon lens. Once it would reach the end of a focus range the tension of the lens ring will increase slightly but still allow the ring to rotate even though the focus remains fixed. The Fz focus motor stopped at the end of each range and didn't allow the lens to continue rotating. I was pleasantly surprised with this if it's a feature.

At some point I can see myself getting a second one to have control over both focus and zoom, but i'll have to lose out on the 3rd axis typically used with the slider and will need to do manual slides if I'm to create any sort of Alfred Hitchcock effects.

      eMotimo Fz & Lplate

I love the eMotimo Fz motor. It works great and is well made! I love that the gear sprocket can be located on either side of the motor. Nice addition to my Spectrum.

The integrated Lplate, unfortunately, I am not that much of a fan. It's made of high quality material, but I just feel it wasn't thought out well enough. First, it doesn't come with 1/4-20 screw to mount the camera. Secondly, the slot for the screw doesn't vary in size so the screw keeps falling out of the bottom of the Lplate. Very annoying when packing or setting up. That damn screw seems to always get lost. Similar problem on the upward side of the Lplate. The slot doesn't account for cables that would be used for an intervalometer...so you have to slide the camera away from the Lplate (to the right) so that you have enough space to plug in your intervelometer cable....again because it won't fit through the hole/slot. Fortunately, the bottom bracket is long enough to slide the camera and therefore plug in the cable. I would definitely use another Lbracket but unfortunately, I have not found one that allows you to attach a single rail. eMotimo, I beg you, please redesign. I'll be the first to buy it.

Update from eMotimo 6/16/17 - Our integrated LPlates now have 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 screws included with retainers!

      Integrate doesn't account for cables

Agree with the comment above. The integrated L plate leaves no room to plug in cables, so you can't line the camera up flush with the left side of the L plate for maximum stability. Instead, you have to slide the camera way to the right so that the cables fit. I love virtually everything else about this entire system, though. Minor tweaks to the Interated L plate and I'd give a 5 star review!
