Monorail + Conductor - Single Rail Camera Motion Control
Make Your Camera
Go
Monorail is one of the easiest to use and most versatile motioncamera track systems that I have seen to date. I expect it will quickly becomethe solution of choice for many production applications.
We have been looking for a camera motion solution that won’tbreak the bank for our weekend services. Monorail is an exciting tool for ourlive productions.
FAQs
You can use the Monorail Conductor independently as a "smart" linear solution but you would need to control non-supported gimbals separately.
The eMotimo Conductor supports communication with Ronin RS2, RS3, RS4 gimbals.
If your RS2,3,4 Pro gimbal has the expansion port to take the DJI Focus Knob, you are set. If it can't, it doesn't have the correct connection to enable the Conductor to communicate with it.

You can use any camera/lens combination that the above gimbals support.
You can use this solution as a programmable linear system to move anything so long as the load is relatively centered underneath the carriage.
The Conductor SA2.6 has a several ways you can communicate with it. One of the most powerful, extendable and reliable ways is through its wired network port.
The Conductor has a 10/100 Network Connection that can be configured in many ways. The most common is to plug it into a wired network to obtain an IP address from your router (Dynamic or Static) and serve as a TCP Server to reply to commands issues to it. Typically This enables communication from anything on the network that can see that IP address.
Once on the network, eMotimo can talk to Bitfocus Companion (prebuilt configurations) , Skaarhoj Controllers (prebuilt configurations), Dragonframe, and our open and published eMotimo API for those that want to incorporate control into other applications. Unlike inexpensive devices that rely solely on spotty and variable latency wireless communication, the Conductor's wired network port gives reliable, low latent performance over long distances for production environments for short and long terms installations.
Conductor also has an onboard Wifi receiver that may be turned on to enable faster run and gun setups, but at this time only the wired connection is fully supported.
Because "hangers" can be placed in-between sections of PortaRail, the Monorail system can be setup to support heavy loads. The limitation for weight comes from the compatible gimbals. The RS4 Pro supports a payload of 10 pounds.
Using hangers from Rigwheels you can extend the PortaRail as long as needed. Without support you can expect a useable span of about 20' with an acceptable amount of flex in the rail.
You can use the Monorail Conductor as a "transport" for a PTZ system but you would not have the smart coordination of pan/tilt/zoom/focus/slide coming from one controller. The PTZ and slide would be controlled independently.
Yes! With the camera/lens options available from major manufacturers there is certainly a way to get a Monorail + Conductor system integrated into your current PTZ workflow.
We have installation partners in some locations who are up-to-speed on integrating Monorail +Conductor in networked environments.
